Is Twitter Actually Sending Out Your Tweets?

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

This is a test to determine if your Followers are seeing your Tweets. Actually, it’s a test to see if my followers are seeing my tweets, but I am sharing the data with you. If it’s working (or not) for me, it should be similar for you.

You know, with so many people on Twitter having thousands of followers, it would be interesting to know if the followers are getting the tweets. This post is designed to help determine the truth.

I currently have 3,311 followers on Twitter. That’s chump change compared to many out there, but it should be enough to do some testing, right? I will start to send out tweets linking to this post. I will track the clicks using Bitly and post the results here. If it gets enough traffic, I will do a dedicated page.

I will send the tweet, wait 5 minutes and check to see how many clicks I had. We all know that if you are following a bunch of people, you only see a tweet for a few seconds before it rolls to the next page.

If I do not get hits, I will change the wording to make it a bit more irresistible. I will run each tweet multiple times and at different times to get a baseline.

Let’s start the test!

If you have any questions, you can email at ron@ronknighton.com or catch Ron Knighton on Twitter.
